What is your cancellation policy?

We regret fees, but since camps are so customized, a cancellation can mean other families who were counting on a certain gender or age mix may also have to be updated; additionally, activities and equipment changes may be required. Refunds will be given via check, and vary depending on the time of cancellation, as follows:

Before April 21st: 80% refunded (20% fee)
April 22-May 9: 75% refunded (25% fee)
May 10-May 31: 50% refunded (50% fee)
After June 1st: No refunds

HOWEVER, if you’re in “wait mode” due to an extended family trip, contact us so we can help your planning.

What are the locations for Hayes & Potrero camps? Is there parking?

Potrero camp for ages 6.5-8 is located in the courtyard at:

650 Florida St, Suite L
*Short-term parking is available directly out front.

Hayes camp for ages 8-10 is directly on the corner of Octavia and Page at:

188 Octavia St, Ste A
*Sorry, there is no designated parking.

My child won't be age 6.5 by camp; can I still sign them up?

No. We’ve found over the years that a too-young Cadet isn’t able to follow our spy narratives or keep up with the training. We want to ensure that all Cadets are confident in their spy skills and have a great time at camp. When they struggle to keep up with activities, it can lead to them feeling like they aren’t a good spy (and that’s just not true!) They might not be ready for our Spy Camp yet, but we know they will make great future spies. We can’t wait to see them next year!

My kids are 7 and 9; can they please go the same location?

The older kids’ Hayes location would not be a happy place for a 7-year old. In rare cases, a 9-year old might be entertained enough at the younger Potrero location, but it’s unlikely. Each camp is really focused on Spy themes that are appropriate for their age group. (We do offer Vacation camps during the year for ages 6.5-10)

How many kids are in a camp? And how many Trainers?

Approximately 12 Cadets and up to 3 CITs (Counselors In Training) attend per camp week.

Each camp is run by:
1 Camp Director
2 Lead Trainers
2-3 push-in support specialists in areas such as Skiing, Martial Arts, and Stick Fighting.

What are the Camp and Care costs?

Weekly camp is $580 for 1-week and $1,000 for (any) 2-weeks.

Siblings receive 10% off the 2nd child registration.

Weekly care costs are as follows:
• $100 for AM+PM
• $50 for AM only
• $80 for PM only

Sorry, we cannot prorate care.

What are the Care hours?

AM care if 8-9AM

We can’t do all 5 days of camp; can you pro-rate the cost for us?

No, sorry. It’s actually more work for our Training staff when Cadets attend partial
weeks.

We want to attend the first week, but my child is still in school through Tuesday. Can
we still attend?

Yes. This is exactly why we created the first and last week of camp, called GAME week.

GAME week is $300 per week, regardless of how many days your child attends.

We call it GAME week to allow our Trainers to creatively juggle activities each day to make for a fun experience regardless of the attendance numbers and changes.

We need to do early pick-up most days. How will that be managed?

Spy Camp is not great at early pick-up scenarios except for 1-time exception
circumstances. We run a very active camp and Cadets are frequently at training rotations in the neighborhood or perhaps on Mission surveillance at a new location.

(Our Trainers are very accommodating, and we will do everything possible to make it work, but please don’t plan on frequent early pick-ups.)

We need a flexible drop-off schedule for our active family. How will that be managed?

Spy Camp cannot accommodate later drop-offs than our 9-9:15am window. We brief the full squad every morning and head right into the day’s activities. A late arrival means the need for 1:1 briefing and disrupts the flow for the rest of the squad. (But we can plan ahead for an unmovable Dr. Appointment, etc.)

What do you do if it rains? I see you spend about 60% of time outside?

Since we spend half of each day on inside activities, half on outside activities and plan on lunch & a short recess outside every day, we’ve found it usually feasible to juggle the days activities so kids still get rain-free outdoor time.

Should we pack lunch?

Yes, please pack an ample AM snack and lunch.

Is your camp nut-free?

While our camp is not nut-free, if we have a camper with a severe nut allergy we do make that full week completely nut-free. Please feel free to request this for your child’s week(s).

Do you have after-care snacks that are Gluten-free? Nut-free? Egg-free?

Yes.

Do kids ever get sent home from camp for disruptive behavior? Our child has attended other camps that allowed disruptive kids to stay and that made it hard for her to feel safe.

Yes. While we make every effort to help kids get used to a new camp, new rules - maybe even a new timezone if they’ve been traveling - kids who cannot participate in group activities in a safe, respectful manner will not be allowed to stay. Spy Camp uses a very clear protocol that attempts to support Cadets in making corrective actions. We are all learning and we have very fond memories of many Cadets who “turned it around” to enjoy their week.

What is the SpyCamp protocol for disruptive or disrespectful or unsafe Cadets?

If there are issues on Monday, we’ve found these are almost always corrected during Tuesday. We proactively help Cadets adjust and normally do not send a note to parents while we correct minor issues. If issues persist through Tuesday, parents receive an email on Tuesday night outlining the concern, corrective action taken and requesting assistance. If the behavior persists through Wednesday, then the Cadet will not be allowed to stay at Spy Camp. In this case no refunds can be implemented. In rare cases of extremely disruptive behavior, parents may be asked to come to camp early for a pick-up. However, at this point, Spy Camp has already engaged the family prior to this
type of difficult phone call.
